Summer Workwear

Summer Workwear

A work-appropriate outfit in 90 degree weather might seem impossible, but it doesn’t need to be. Dressing for warmer weather doesn’t necessarily mean you need to forget about that amazing wardrobe of yours and strip down to your shorts and tank tops - really all you need is to select garments made of lighter materials, and in relaxed silhouettes. With the proper styling, Summer dressing for work can be a breeze, it just requires a little thoughtful wardrobe refresh first.

That being said, we’ve curated a list of 9-to-5-approved pieces to get you through the Summer. Trust us, these looks might just be cool enough to take you from the boardroom to dinner with ease while still meaning serious biz.

Work tops

A good collection of blouses is key. If your office is more on the business casual side, stock up on easy to pair sleeveless pieces that can easily be thrown over your favorite work pants without having to cover up with extra layers. Choose from a vast selection of tops in an array of pastel hues, or animal and geo prints in work-appropriate silhouettes.

Pleats, please

A statement skirt is always the better outfit option in Summer, especially for those humid days. Start with a midi and work from the waist up. Tuck a graphic tee into a solid midi (extra fashion points if you opt for the lamé), or pair a printed skirt with a solid woven tee or cami if you want to dress it up a notch.

Workwear Dresses

Dresses are true essential come Summer time. Invest in a couple of polished work appropriate dresses that will speak for themselves and cut down your getting-ready time in the morning - just add a pair of mules or slingbacks and you’re good to go. These dresses are chic enough to take you from your boardroom meeting to your al fresco dinner RSVP, no outfit change required.

Bottoms

If you feel more comfortable in pants, opt for flare or wide leg bottoms, or a gaucho if your office is more relaxed. Not only are these bottoms super on-trend, but also extremely versatile and can be easily paired with most tops.

Layer up, if necessary

Be a layering pro and dress up a basic cami or tee with these light and easy to style pieces. Most workplaces tend to turn up the AC during the Summer so it always helps to have an extra piece on hand, and also dresses up your look a little more if you’re called into an impromptu meeting or heading out after hours.
Tip: Keep an emergency blazer or cardigan at the office that goes with everything!
